Reeves Center June 2021 Update

Welcome Kalli Turner, the new Program Coordinator of the 4 Pillars Counseling and Enrichment Center! She has been busy meeting lay leaders, ministry leaders, and staff in her short time with us. She will be the connection between the 4 Pillars Center, the church, and the ColonialTown North Community.  If you would like to welcome Kalli, please email her at kallit@fumcwp.org.

The search continues for Licensed Mental Health therapists who want to lease office space at the Center. We are looking forward to opening this new church ministry soon. Stay tuned for more details.

The Reeves Center roof is fixed! We are excited the repair has been completed, and the renovation of the 4 Pillars Counseling and Enrichment Center can be finished.

Reeves Center May 2021 Update

Exciting things are happening at the Reeves Center!

The 4 Pillars team would like you to join with them in welcoming their new Program Coordinator, Kalli Turner. She will oversee the 4 Pillars Counseling and Enrichment Center, work with the therapists, and be the connector to the church, the neighborhood, and the greater Orlando community. Kalli is already attending worship on Sunday mornings with her husband, Matt, and daughter Emma. Welcome, Kalli!

As you drive by the Reeves campus on Fern Creek Ave., check out the new windows of the 4 Pillars Counseling and Enrichment Center. They look great and give the building an elevated look!  The Center’s office renovation continues with the goal of providing office space to 3 therapists with an inviting reception area. We are excited that the search is underway for therapists to lease office space starting July 1st.

After a recent rainstorm, a good portion of the roof over the Counseling Center leaked water into multiple areas of the future Counseling Center office space which has delayed the project for a bit. The Trustees are in the process of repairing the leaks so that the Center can be completed soon.

Security cameras have been installed throughout the building to ensure safety for the children, dancers and the 4 Pillars clients.

Thanks to the Trustees for their ongoing support and commitment in creating a safe environment for the ministries of the Reeves Center.

If you would like more info or are interested in a tour of the Reeves Center, please contact Denise Meyer at reeves@fumcwp.org or call 407-644-2906 Ext. 281.

Updated COVID-19 Guidance

Hello Church Family,

We have some important news! As you may know, the CDC now recommends eliminating the mask mandate for fully vaccinated individuals. Similarly, the Florida Conference has recommended relaxed guidelines, seen in the message below. However, all staff and volunteers working with children and the nursery will continue to wear masks.

Starting this May 16, any person that has been fully vaccinated can come on campus without a mask. We ask that you continue to enter through the courtyard gates and check-in with the QR code or with one of our friendly volunteers so we can identify new attendees, record attendance, and follow up with those requesting care. Finally, out of respect for vulnerable members of our community, we encourage you to maintain safe social distancing in large groups, the Sanctuary, and the Matthias Family Life Center.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and faithfulness.

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Rachel

Dear Clergy and Laity of the Florida Conference:

We continue to pray for those impacted by the COVID-19 virus.

Yesterday the CDC issued new guidance regarding masks for those who have been fully vaccinated. In response, we believe it is appropriate for local churches to follow this guidance and make mask wearing optional for those who have been fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated is defined as being two weeks after the last dose of the vaccine. This decision should be made by your team of shared leadership. It is very appropriate for some churches to continue to require masks for everyone knowing that some persons are not able to be vaccinated. We do encourage continuing to maintain social distance of six feet in between different households. CDC guidance also indicates that fully vaccinated persons can sing in a choral group. We encourage persons to be vaccinated and respect the fact that some cannot be vaccinated because they are immune compromised. Making masks optional requires trust. Churches should consider providing caution zones where people who want to wear masks can do so.

If you have any questions please contact your District Superintendent or reach the Episcopal Office at ashanks@flumc.org.

The Peace of the Lord,
Bishop Carter and the Appointive Cabinet
