Missions and Outreach
Our church family hosts up to 4 homeless families throughout the year for a week at a time. We offer meals and shelter for families as they transition to full employment and stable housing. We have opportunities for setting up or taking down rooms, providing meals or groceries, hosting weekday evenings or Saturday, staying overnight with families and washing linens after our guests depart.
With all the social distancing and quarantining taking place, blood donations have fallen drastically! We have many loyal blood donors in our Church Family so we are encouraging all who are comfortable to find a way to donate by tracking the Big Red Bus (oneblood.org) or by visiting our local One Blood Center, 2242 Aloma Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32792. Your gift gives life!
As the body of Christ, we will spread awareness about human trafficking throughout our congregation so that we can help prevent it and provide healing and spiritual restoration for those affected.
Daily Bread offers a free nourishing noon-time meal to anyone in the community who is hungry.
United Against Poverty
Bring your family and join with our church family in the spirit of service for Family Night at UP Orlando Center (United Against Poverty). There will be dinner, music and a whole lot of fun as we work together to help organize the Cost Share Grocery Program, the Emergency Food Pantry and the Community Thrift Center.
Mentor and coach Jobs Partnership students during their 12-week class. In addition, FUMCWP provides interview attire for the men in the program.
Society of St. Andrew
Great family fun that helps our local food pantries! If your family needs a break from distance learning, join the Society of St. Andrew as they help get food from the fields to the tables in central Florida. This awesome organization needs volunteers to help glean “left over crops” to get this beautiful produce into the homes of those in need. There are projects all over the area – find one that suits your schedule!
Donate gently used athletic shoes for distribution to those who need but can’t afford them. All sizes of shoes needed.
Assemble bags of non-perishable food for distribution to our homeless neighbors.
Rise Against Hunger
Help feed our hungry brothers and sisters around the world by participating in this fun, family-friendly, meal packing event. Our church has purchased and packed over 150,000 meals to date!
Summer – Bring the requested item of the week to church on Sunday. Help sort and deliver food to the Christian Service Center and/or United Against Poverty Orlando.
November – Pick up a grocery bag on Sunday, fill it with the items listed on the front of the bag, return filled bags to red bins at church. Shortly before Thanksgiving, help deliver/distribute filled bags to Reeves Terrace.
“Soup”er Bowl Sunday
We collect soups, stews and chili on Soup-er Bowl Sunday to help fill the shelves at the Christian Service Center right here in Winter Park.
Florida United Methodist Children’s Home

The Sager-Brown Depot in Baldwin, LA is the headquarters for UMCOR’s relief-supply operations. Each year, about $4 million in supplies are prepared for shipment from the Baldwin campus. Locally, UMCOR Sager Brown reaches out to Baldwin neighbors through food distribution and housing rehabilitation projects, engaging volunteers in these projects that help families and the elderly.
Making homes warmer, safer and drier for low-income families in Central Appalachia. Ages 13 and up are welcome to join us on this trip. Missioners are responsible for their own transportation.
Be the hand of hope, feet of faith, heart of compassion as we work to repair homes for those in need.
A joint ministry between FUMCWP and the United Methodist Churches of Kenya, this is a 2-year program for orphans and vulnerable children and youth in the slums of Naivasha, Kenya. Youth receive financial sponsorship for 2 years, business, vocational and life skills training, and spiritual guidance and encouragement. Show the love of Christ and share your blessings with our brothers and sisters in Naivasha! You may sponsor a youth financially for their 2-year training, become a letter-writer, and/or join a mission trip to Naivasha. For ways to get involved, please visit the Inua Partners in Hope website listed below for more details on donating and becoming a partner in hope.
