Our hearts go out to those affected by Hurricane Helene. During this time, you can help too! Please continue to pray for those affected and consider contributing by volunteering with the FL Conference Disaster Response Team or by giving to their disaster fund.

Volunteers Needed

As with any disaster, it often takes time to safely and effectively coordinate volunteer efforts. Our Florida Conference disaster team, along with other staff, have been traveling to the affected areas, meeting with pastors and community members, and conducting site assessments. Here’s how you can help right now:

Cedar Key: Cedar Key has suffered extensive damage. Volunteers can stay at Ellzey United Methodist Church, which offers housing with a shower, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a large room, and the sanctuary. Volunteers will need to bring their own food, bedding, tools, and other essentials. Their efforts will focus on cleaning out homes in the area.

SteinhatcheeSteinhatchee has also suffered extensive damage. Our conference team has personnel on the ground, and within 24 hours, we expect to have a plan in place to deploy volunteers for debris removal, mucking out, and general support.

Madison/Pinetta: Hundreds of homes have been affected by wind and rain. Volunteer teams are currently being deployed to do tree/debris removal, tarping, and in some cases clean outs. Volunteers are being housed at the Pinetta Baptist Church.

Pinellas County: The Conference is coordinating both individual and volunteer teams to do clean-outs and tarping. Housing is available for groups looking to stay overnight but Done-in-a-Day groups are also needed.
