Our hearts go out to those affected by Hurricane Helene & Milton. During this time, you can help too! Please keep those affected in your prayers and consider supporting by volunteering with the Florida Conference Disaster Response Team or donating to their disaster relief fund.

We will be updating this page as information comes in! Please email Victoria Vaden at victoriav@fumcwp.org with any questions.

Volunteers Needed

We are looking for volunteers next Wednesday (11/20) and Saturday (11/23) for Steinhatchee. These are primarily debris removal and clean outs. These are Done in a Day (DIAD) deployments.

ERTs are needed next week to support a team from Montana serving in the Tampa/St Petersburg area. These can be one-day or multiple day deployments. Housing is also available.

Volunteer teams (3 or more) are needed in Tampa/St Petersburg for cleanouts for the coming weeks. Housing is available.

There is an urgent need for a clean out team in North Ft Myers for a home with extensive mold. Housing at Good Shepherd UMC is available if a team needs to stay overnight. Photos and other information are available.

Callers needed – if you cannot deploy to a site you can assist with follow-up phone calls to verify survivor needs. Many of our response sites come from an online disaster platform shared by a number of disaster response organizations. At times, work is completed either by the survivor or by another organization and not entered into the program. Before we can deploy teams we need to verify the need. Currently there are some 800 survivor homes listed on the program we are working with, just for clean-outs. The homeowner information is listed, we just need to verify the need.
