Lenten Serve Day – Worship Time Change

Join us on Sunday, April 2nd for Lenten Serve Day! On this day, we will hold one Palm Sunday worship service followed by several opportunities for relational service in our community. Our hope is to spread God’s love, lend a helping hand, and build relationships both in and out of the church!

Worship: 10-11am, Sanctuary
Service Projects: All projects will start after the worship service. Start times vary slightly based on the project.  Please see the details in the descriptions below.

Register for one of the projects and please visit the Resources section of your registration for additional items to complete prior to April 2nd. After registering, please read your confirmation email for additional details.

Project 1: Campus Beautification at Trinity Christian Academy
Leaders: Stacie Wilson, Kathie Olsen, Dave Olsen
Location: Trinity Christian Academy, 1100 N. Fern Creek Ave. Orlando, FL 32803
Time: 11:30am – 2:00pm
Seeking enthusiastic painters to refresh the equipment on the preschool playground, as well as several classrooms. This painting project will protect the playground equipment and ensure that the children have a clean and bright space!  Come prepared to get messy in clothes that can withstand paint splatters. If you have them, please bring your own roller handles and/or paint trays. Remember to label your own equipment. Other supplies and lunch will be provided. This project is meant for adults and youth in 6th grade and above. No young children please.

Project 2: Distributing Street Eats Snack Bags
Leaders: Caroline Payne, Jacqueline DeVane, Dylan Kling
Location: Lake Eola Park – Walt Disney Amphitheater
Time: 11:30am – 1:00pm
Follow in the steps of our Youth to distribute street eats snack bags in fellowship with one another. Please meet the group at Lake Eola Park, hear a devotion and prayer, and walk around the park distribute bags in small teams. We will then meet up again as a group to share our experiences.

Project 3: United Against Poverty Member Grocery Stocking and Cleaning
Leader: David Witwer
Location: United Against Poverty Orlando, 150 W. Michigan St. Orlando, FL 32806
Time: 11:30am – 1:00pm
Join the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee at United Against Poverty’s Member Grocery and Marketplace. We will stock shelves, add price tags and clean. The grocery and marketplace are low-cost stores that families can browse and make choices about which items to buy, rather than accepting food that someone else has chosen for them. Closed-toed shoes and waiver are required. Please see the “Resources” are of this registration to access the waiver. This project is available for adults and youth age 10 and older. All youth under age 18 must have a parent or adult chaperone present.

Project 4: Killarney Elementary Teacher Appreciation
Leader: Peter Gaughan
Location: FUMCWP
Time: 11am- 12:30pm
Let’s show the teachers at Killarney Elementary some love and appreciation for all their hard work. We will write notes of encouragement, create small treat bags, and donate gift cards/self-care items for their teacher raffle. As part of this registration process, please consider signing up to bring specific raffle items and self-care gifts for teachers.

Project 5: United Methodist Children’s Home Activity Baskets
Leader: Rachel DeLaune
Location: FUMCWP
Time: 11am – 12:30pm
Maybe you have heard of the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, but you don’t know all that it does. Join us to create activity baskets for the youth living there and write notes of encouragement to remind the youth just how special they are to God. As part of this registration process, please consider signing up to bring specific items to fill the activity baskets. Sign up for specific items coming soon.

Additional Support
If you would like to be part of the day but can’t be there in person, you can register to offer additional support.  Options available include offering teacher appreciation items, goodies for United Methodist Children’s Home baskets and other supplies and snacks. We love your extra support!
