Our hearts go out to those affected by Hurricane Helene. During this time, you can help too! Please keep those affected in your prayers and consider supporting by volunteering with the Florida Conference Disaster Response Team or donating to their disaster relief fund.
We will be updating this page as information comes in! Please email Victoria Vaden at victoriav@fumcwp.org with any questions.
As with any disaster, it often takes time to safely and effectively coordinate volunteer efforts. Our Florida Conference disaster team, along with other staff, have been traveling to the affected areas, meeting with pastors and community members, and conducting site assessments. Here’s how you can help right now:
Cedar Key: Cedar Key has suffered extensive damage. Volunteers can stay at Ellzey United Methodist Church, which offers housing with a shower, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a large room, and the sanctuary. Volunteers will need to bring their own food, bedding, tools, and other essentials. Their efforts will focus on cleaning out homes in the area.
100% of donations to the Disaster Recovery Support Fund of The Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church goes to support the collaborative work of our Conference, districts, and local churches as we respond to disasters including hurricanes, tropical storms, flooding events, and more.
Drop-Off Dates for Completed Kits: October 6-9
Join us in supporting those affected by Hurricane Helene as they face the challenging task of cleanup. You can help by assembling a cleaning kit at home and dropping it off at the church. Click the link below for detailed instructions on how to put together a kit.
Drop-Off Dates for Individual Supplies: October 6-8
If you prefer to donate individual supplies, please drop them off by 5:30pm on October 8. We also invite you to participate in the Christ-like Servants Pillar Meeting from 5:45-6:15pm on October 8 in the MFLC Youth Lounge (3rd floor) to assist in assembling the kits.
You can drop off individual supplies and completed kits at the church office between 9am-4pm, or place them in the red bins in the courtyard from 8am-7pm.
