What: Help wash, adjust, refurbish and repair donated bicycles and return them to be used by those most in need in our community.  Over 2,200 bicycles have been recycled through this ministry.

Family Promise (formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network)

What: Almost 15 congregations take turns hosting, and another 15 congregations support the hosts in the housing of homeless families in the community for a week at a time as they transition from homelessness and un- or under-employment, to stable housing and employment.  There are opportunities for setting up the rooms the families will stay in, providing evening meals, serving as daytime hosts on the weekend, serving as evening hosts during the dinner hour until bedtime, serving as overnight hosts, assisting in tear-down at the end of the week, washing of linens afterward, and providing pantry items during the week.

Restoration Circle

What: This ministry, started by church members, helps raise awareness, and provides healing and spiritual restoration for those affected by human trafficking

Daily Bread

What: Daily Bread offers a free nourishing noon-time meal to anyone in the community who is hungry. Come by yourself, get some friends together or recruit your small group. Sign up and join in to serve lunch.

Thanksgiving Food DrivesThanksgiving

What: Summer – bring the requested item of the week to church on Sunday.  November drive: Pick up a grocery bag on Sunday, fill it with the items listed on the front of the bag, return filled bags to red bins at church.  Shortly before Thanksgiving, help deliver/distribute filled bags to South Street Ministry and Reeves Terrace.

Family Mission Trip to LeesburgWarren Willis

What: Bring the whole family and your sleeping bags, and have a great time camping and serving at Warren Willis Camp!  Arrive Friday night for fun and fellowship, and serve around the camp on Saturday before heading home after lunch.

Sager-Brown Depot (UMCOR)UMCOR

What: The Sager-Brown Depot in Baldwin, LA is the headquarters for UMCOR’s relief-supply operations. Each year, about $4 million in supplies are prepared for shipment from the Baldwin campus. Locally, UMCOR Sager Brown reaches out to Baldwin neighbors through food distribution and housing rehabilitation projects, engaging volunteers in these projects that help families and the elderly.

What: A joint ministry between FUMCWP and the United Methodist Churches of Kenya, this is a 3-year program for orphans and vulnerable children and youth in the slums of Naivasha, Kenya.  Youth receive financial partnership for 3 years, as well as business, vocational and life skills training, and spiritual guidance and encouragement.  Show the love of Christ and share your blessings with our brothers and sisters in Naivasha!  You can partner with a specific youth for all three years of the program ($365/year financial support, daily prayer, and exchanging two letters/year), you can be a Business Partner ($500 one-time gift helps a youth or youths start their own busienss), and/or you can be a Program Partner (a financial gift of any amount to start new continuing education and alumni programs).  In addition, you can join a mission trip to Naivasha to meet these inspiring and motivated youth and their families.
